Vivisection lobby at heart of Govt. (again)

VivisectionPosted by SfA Tue, October 18, 2011 17:53:41
A lobbyist for the vivisection industry has been appointed as spin doctor for Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg.

LibDem activist Olly Grender works for the lobbying firm Political Lobbying and Media Relations who represent amongst others the pro-animal experiments organisation Understanding Animal Research who swing from very dubious claims about the effectiveness of using animals and more often downright misinformation and lies.

You can contact Clegg asking why such a partisan character has been brought into the heart of Govt. here: http://www.dpm.cabinetoffice.gov.uk/content/contact

Ask Alex Salmond to stand up for lab animals

VivisectionPosted by SfA Sun, September 25, 2011 13:18:42

The European parliament recently voted to further weaken already grossly inadequate laws to protect animals being experimented on in EU Labs.

This includes a section intended to save research firms money by allowing them to kill surplus or 'spent' animals by a heavy blow. You can now legally smash a lab animal with a hammer or against a wall to kill it anywhere in the EU when it's no longer 'useful'.

The new Act also prevents any member states from enacting national legislation to improve lab animal welfare. This it has been claimed is to make countries "equally competitive to business".

Last week Alex Salmond announced that he had sent a personal letter in his capacity as first Minister to the European Commissioners demanding immediate and urgent action on a serious matter.

What was his complaint? That EU legislators had ruled that the soft drink Irn Bru had too much artificial colouring in it and had to remove some.

A very public fan of the drink Salmond was reportedly incensed as it was claimed this would alter it's "iconic" orangey colour and fired a diplomatic firestorm at them for this.

If the guy can jump up and act on a matter as trivial as this then if you're a resident in Scotland tell him to get his finger out and demand action on the EU's betrayal of animals.

Contact him at this address: FirstMinister@scotland.gsi.gov.uk

Also please sign the petition demanding the UK Govt. stand up to the EU for once and refuse to implement this edict: http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/15996

Scottish vivisectors at it again

VivisectionPosted by SfA Sat, September 17, 2011 13:12:50
Scotland for Animals have discovered through freedom of information requests that Edinburgh University and Aberdeen University are currently working with a private biotech firm, Ingenza Ltd., conducting yet more animal experiments.

The purpose of this project is to attempt develop feul from their digestive juices.

To date 10 animals have been killed including 4 reindeer. 2 sheep are also being kept alive and their stomach bile extracted regularly to be analysed. We can only imagine what these animals are going through.

We've always asked people to discount the boasting of Edinburgh Uni particularly when they claim that they only carrying out "life saving" research to cure disease. These bodies are about making money, we don't see what possible benefit there could be to Scotland's horrendous record of illness and premature death of these 'Institutions' teaming up with chemical companies and killing animals to produce synthetic petrol.

Good news

VivisectionPosted by SfA Wed, September 07, 2011 13:06:10
Chimps see daylight for first time in their lives after being confined to cages in a lab.

Other animals aren't so lucky. Please consider joining Scotland for Animals and help us get every other lab animal out into the sunshine.

Animal experiments in Scotland

VivisectionPosted by SfA Mon, August 08, 2011 12:06:04
See article re: vivisection below.

Scotland for Animals have been leading the campaign against animal experiments in Scotland, we'll be bringing Andre Menache back to the Country soon to give the scientific case for real research.

You can get more info on Andre's organisation, Antidote Europe and it's work here: antidote-europe.org

Cancer Research UK are running a savvy in Scotland emotionally blackmailing anybody who'll listen into giving them a free rein to waste as much money and lives as possible. If you live here you'll know we've the worst rates of cancer in Europe despite CRUK and others milking the public for every penny they can ponce.

It's time the back was broken of the stranglehold pro-vivisection organisations have on society. We can and with your help we will.

GM animals in research

VivisectionPosted by SfA Thu, August 04, 2011 10:10:06
With the big rise in animal experiments in Scotland last year mainly due to pushing GM animals for research here's an excellent piece on the stupidity and cruelty of these projects. Thanks to Dr Andre Menache of Antidote Europe for article.

Please give generously for a new company car

VivisectionPosted by SfA Thu, August 04, 2011 10:07:12

Cancer Research UK are currently dropping begging letters through Scotland's letterboxes full of emotive nonsense to blackmail you for money.

The last thing CRUK want is a cure for cancers as it'd bring their multi-million pound money making scam, and the juicy executive paypackets and perks that come with it to an end.

Please give them nothing, send the appeal back in its prepayed envelope with the written message that you won't be conned and that if they want advice on real research not corporate greed they should contact Scotland for Animals. You can do this anonymously.

Dr Sally Burtles of Cancer Research UK is on record as stating "We do trials in people because animal models do not predict what will happen in humans."

Stop killing them then Sally.

Subway promotes vivisectionist

VivisectionPosted by Tina Warren Fri, April 01, 2011 17:11:00

We've had a few run-ins with Subway sandwich chain of shops as they promote halal meat. We're sad to find that they also support the vivisectionist charity Heart Research UK.

If you'd like to send them an email voicing your concerns then cut and paste the following email

info@subway.co.uk

Dear Sir or Madam

Yet again I am very disappointed to see that Subway does not care about animals. Not only do you push halal meat you are also promoting Heart Research UK who test on animals. There are lots of health charities out there, it's sad that you have chosen this charity.

If you are keen to promote healthy hearts would you consider putting a vegan option on your menu? I know you have salad but that's it, but there aren't even any tasty dressings to go with salad.

I very much look forward to hearing from you.
